Newsflash

Hey friends...its been a long time since have written a blog entry. A and I have been on the route non stop for the last two weeks and we never really had the time to spent more than 5 mins online. It took me over an hour yesterday to peruse through my email. Thank you so much for all the happy birthday wishes and the Christmas greetings. Well, I think it is about time to update you on the progress of our journey. Right now we are in Hampi... The entrys for Fort Kochin, Calicut and Bangalore are posted but we still need to fill you in on our jungle treck in Wayanad and the magical days we had in Mysore...hope the entrys will follow tomorrow...

Yeah, new Pics, this time from Mysore. Most important here is for one our great new and reaaaally christmassy banner, and our adventures on the Deveraj Market, the biggest fruit and vegtable and home appliances and spices and color market in this part of the country. Also, we went to a beedi factory, and watched old smokers roll small Indian originals.

This time in our photosection: The days in Kanyakumari, where we stayed in an Ashram and peacocks vowed for our attention, an island wanted to be explored (along with many Indian pilgrims/tourists. We actually went there for the sunrise and -set that is supposedly so beauty and bountiful (can I say that?), which you can see on the picture where a post-grad giant is talking to college dwarfs. The last pics are from Varkala, and that elephant worked while we had breakfast in the cafe next to his workingplace.

Aufgabe fuer Franzi: Kannste mal versuchen, per Photoshop etc. ein Pferd als Groessenvregleich neben/vor den Elefanten auf dem ersten Bild zu stellen? Der Mann ist ein wenig kleiner als du.

Noch mehr Bilder. All from our great TempleTour through Tamilnadu, above the Roqueforte, aeh, Rock Fort in Trichy, and K. climbing its stepps, then the 10 acres temple in Tiruvanamalai, which is not colorful at all, against all reasoning, and a pic of what happens when you give money to a temple elephant. Then, a HOLY COW! and a voluptuous temple statue at Manna Cafe, and last but not least K. while still being able to eat (in Pondicherry) and with heavy luggage waiting for the train to Kanyakumari.

Some early impressions. Wir sind in Pondicherry angekommen. Das Oertchen hat mittlerweile einen neuen Namen, aber den ignorieren wir hier der Einfachheit halber mal. Die sind hier so viel am umbenennen, das ist echt nicht mehr feierlich.
Wir wohnen, wie gesagt, im Guesthouse des oertlichen Ashram, dessen Gruender Sri Aurobindo und seine treue Gefaehrtin "Mutter" in die ewigen Jagdgruende entschwunden sind, wenn man das so sagen darf. Uebrig sind die Verwalter ihres Erbes und das Projekt Auroville, das wir uns morgen ansehen werden, und dessen Bewohner in Handarbeit ganz tolle Dinge herstellen, deren Charme wir uns nicht erwehren konnten. Und Postkarten gibt's hier auch, weswegen die naechste Runde Postkarten bald unterwegs sein wird. Wer welche will, bitte Adresse an uns senden. K. mailadresse ist ja hier auf der Seite zu finden.

Zur Zeit sitzen wir in einem schoenen I-net Cafe, dessen Bedienung hinter uns Aquarelle malt und uns Eistee mit Minze, Sandwiches und Mocca serviert. Diese kommen gleich, deshalb ist jetzt erstmal Schluss.

Dog, Tired: Spooky, Experience India topdog, likes the camera and is tired after a long ride in the jeep, on which he decided to puke 3 times. I don't like dogs anyway. Then, there is the Indian style of customer service: M. with 5! eager Al Bundies... no, they actually were all really nice! Sindur (K. explained) makes us look good, as you can see (that's the churida K was writing about). At last, you can also see what traveling in India does to you. At the end, you're really tired...
